CARLOS ALFREDO GUTIÉRREZ VERACOMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST FOR LATIN AMERICACarlos is an architect and urban planner who obtained his degree from University of Chile. He worked as a Senior Technical Advisor (Consortium of three German companies) for the CONVIVIR Program in Honduras where he was influential in the development of community-focused initiatives and infrastructure for prevention of violence. Over the past years Carlos has lived and worked in South, Central and North America where he familiarized himself very closely with local cultural aspects and social challenges especially those relating to violence and its prevention. This work allowed him to gain extensive experience in facilitating community development, promoting citizen engagement and integration, and strengthening community and institutional participation.
Carlos is also one of the initiators of CPTED in Latin America. He has participated in the promotion of the CPTED methodology in Latin America since its inception in the region in 2000. He has conducted CPTED work in Central America, especially in educational infrastructure and is also a co-author of the first CPTED manual in Latin America. In 2017 Carlos was also elected a Director of the International CPTED Association. Carlos is based in Ecuador. |
