GREGORY SAVILLE

​SAFEGROWTH® FOUNDER

Gregory Saville is a creator of the SafeGrowth® method for building neighborhoods free of crime and fear. He is a founder and CEO of AlterNation, an international consulting firm leading SafeGrowth® training and development. He is a former police officer and criminologist who consults with police departments in problem-solving and trains police officers in emotional intelligence and problem-based learning. He is also a registered urban planner specializing in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design - CPTED - especially 2nd Generation CPTED, a concept he co-created with Gerard Cleveland. He has served as legal expert witness in criminal and civil cases regarding criminal target selection and CPTED.

In 1996 he co-founded and is Distinguished Lifetime Member of the International CPTED Association, is co-chair of the Police Society for Problem-Based Learning, and currently serves as a judge with the International Problem-Oriented Policing Herman Goldstein Award program. He has worked as faculty member in criminology at Florida State University, as research professor at the Forensic Science and Public Safety School at the University of New Haven, and as associate adjunct professor at the University of Calgary's Faculty of Environmental Design.

Livability academy EXPERT

Jason is Associate State Director of Community Outreach for the Louisiana office of AARP. AARP is the largest non-profit organization in the United States that works on behalf of adults 50+. Jason is a certified urban planner and is also certified in SafeGrowth®. Jason's expertise is in advocating for policies at the local and state level that help communities become more age friendly.

In his capacity at AARP, he has successfully advocated for local and statewide complete street laws and spreadheaded grass roots organizations that support affordable and accessible housing policies. In 2010 his work included helping facilitate SafeGrowth® into a livability initiative within the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, a program that reduced violent crime by 87% and improved livability throughout the neighborhood.

Jason is based in Florida.

PAMELA B. DANIELS

COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST

Pamela B. Daniels is a sustainability focused, community and economic development strategist, with over 18 years of experience in community organizing and engagement, hospitality and operations management, environmental advocacy, and whole-community ecosystem growth and development. Pamela is a seasoned program director, corporate communicator, grant writer/administrator, and content developer.

Pamela was trained in SafeGrowth and has completed project work in New Jersey. She was a presenter at the New Jersey SafeGrowth Summit in 2019 and joined the SafeGrowth Network that same year. Pamela most recently served in Resource Development and executive leadership at Unified Vailsburg Services Organization, Inc., a community and economic development agency that specializes in preschool and afterschool education services, affordable housing and homeownership facilitation, and neighborhood revitalization through creative placemaking.

Pamela was a two-term Board Member of Partnership West, Inc. the West Ward of Newark, New Jersey’s Business Improvement District (BID), and served as its Founding President between 2016 and 2018. Pamela co-Chairs the Creative New Jersey, Creative-Newark Call for Collaboration Host Team, a project of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation.

As a publicist and business development consultant through her own brand, The Brickerati Group, Pamela produces audience engagement and brand growth campaigns and productions for clients, who are impact-driven enterprises, municipalities, non-profits, and artists.

Pamela is based in New Jersey.

STASIA MONTEIRO

LIVABILITY ACADEMY TEACHING SPECIALIST

Stasia is a certified SafeGrowth® Facilitator and Advocate based in Philadelphia, PA. They began their career in education, working toward greater equity of access and opportunity for children of all communities. This work continues as they serve neighborhoods through resident-driven initiatives to advocate for resources, services, and infrastructure improvements and inform community development projects on a local and municipal level.

Stasia applies their education background to facilitating hands-on learning opportunities yielding tangible community impacts and personal development with an intergenerational, intercultural population. With HACE CDC in Eastern North Philadelphia, they have co-developed and are implementing Philadelphia’s first ongoing Livability Academy, an 8-week community learning model that provides direct instruction on CPTED, SafeGrowth, Communications, Asset Mapping and other skills while fostering Leadership, Teamwork, and Consensus Decision-Making. Their dynamic, thoughtful approach to bolstering self-determination and equitable development contributes to Philadelphia’s role as a model city for implementing SafeGrowth strategies that increasingly bring residents’ visions to fruition.

HARRY L. TAPIA

COMMUNITY DEVELOPER

Joining HACE as a file clerk in 2002, Harry is now the Controller and leads HACE’s community safety projects. Since arriving in Philadelphia in 1991, Harry has been involved in community safety and community rebuilding. As a youth, Harry worked with the Norris Square Neighborhood Project and CUNAD (Community United Neighbors Against Drugs) on neighborhood safety, conflict resolution, leadership building, and repurposing abandon lots into community gardens.  Through CUNAD, Harry was part of a national weed and seed panel designed to train national youth leaders on community safety and redevelopment. Harry also participated in the local Police Athletic League center, ROTC, and the Taller Puertorriqueño. He received his Associate’s degree from Community College of Philadelphia and his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from La Salle University. His life goals are to empower low income individuals through economic development and education.
